What Is Weiman Disinfectant Granite & Stone Clean & Shine?

Weiman Disinfectant Granite & Stone Clean & Shine is a pH-balanced cleaner for natural stone with a disinfectant built in. One pass cleans, kills bacteria and leaves a shine, where otherwise you would be reaching for three separate bottles.

That combination exists because of the kitchen. A worktop where raw chicken, fish and pork get handled needs more than a wipe over, and the instinctive answer is bleach, which happens to be the one thing you must keep away from stone.

Weiman gets at the problem in the way stone permits. You keep the hygiene without pulling the sealer out of the pores or flattening the polish, which is what bleach and ordinary antibacterial sprays do over time.

Use it on granite, marble and onyx. Engineered quartz takes Quartz Clean & Shine instead, a bottle made for a resin-bound surface, and both live on the care shelf at our Laguna branch.

Why Does a Stone Counter Need Disinfecting?

Because the surface takes liquid in, and the usual remedy wrecks it.

Raw food on an absorbent surface

In kitchens across Southern Luzon, chicken, fish and pork tend to be handled straight on the counter. Sealed granite keeps that liquid on the surface, but wiping it with water alone pushes bacteria around rather than killing anything.

Bleach is the wrong answer

Bleach and antibacterial sprays pull sealer out, flatten polish and, on marble and onyx, etch the stone outright. They fix the hygiene problem and leave a permanent one behind.

Unsealed stone is the real exposure

Once a seal has worn through, liquid soaks in and no surface cleaner can reach what has been absorbed. Run the water test first: leave a few drops on a spot nobody looks at for about fifteen minutes, and if the stone darkens it wants sealing before hygiene is even on the table.

Cutting boards still earn their keep

No cleaner removes the case for a board. Cutting on stone blunts knives, scores the sealer and puts raw food against the surface for no good reason. Use a board and this bottle becomes a backstop rather than the whole defence.

How Do You Use Weiman Clean & Shine?

Three steps, and the dwell time is the one that decides it.

Clear the Counter First

Sweep off crumbs and food debris before you spray. A disinfectant only reaches what it can touch, and anything lying on top shields whatever is beneath it.

Spray, Then Leave It Alone

Contact time is what makes a disinfectant work, and it is the step nearly everybody skips. Spray it on, let it sit for as long as the bottle says, and resist wiping it straight back off.

Wipe, Then Buff Dry

Take it off with a clean cloth, then bring the shine up with a dry microfibre so nothing streaks. On a long run, work in sections so no part dries before you get to it.

Can You Use Bleach on Stone?

No. It is the commonest way a counter gets ruined.

No. Bleach draws impregnating sealer back out of the pores, which leaves an absorbent stone wide open to the next spill of oil or wine. The counter looks fine that evening and stains a month later.

On marble and onyx it is worse still. Those are calcium carbonate, so bleach and acidic bathroom sprays etch the surface and leave dull patches that no cleaner will reverse.

The same goes for oven cleaner, descaler and most heavy-duty kitchen sprays. Where a bottle does not state that it is safe on natural stone, work on the basis that it is not.

Vinegar deserves a warning of its own. It is the natural cleaner of choice in a great many households, and it is an acid, so on marble and onyx it etches on contact. Calamansi does the same.

A stone-safe disinfectant exists precisely so that trade never has to be made. The hygiene is yours and the sealer stays where it is.

Should You Buy This or the Granite Polish?

This one for most kitchens. The polish for a counter that has gone dull.

Buy this one if the counter is in good order and raw food passes through the kitchen. Cleaning, disinfecting and shine come in a single pass at ₱1,500, which covers ordinary daily use.

Buy Granite & Stone Polish at ₱1,700 where months of soap film or hard water have already flattened the surface. Its job is fetching the reflection back rather than routine hygiene.

A good many kitchens end up with both, and there is nothing wrong with that. Let the polish recover a neglected counter, then use this one to hold it there.

What It Will Not Do

Three limits worth knowing before you buy.

It Does Not Seal

No cleaner protects an absorbent stone. If the water test shows the counter drinking, it wants a sealer no matter how thoroughly you have cleaned it.

It Does Not Lift a Stain

A stain has gone into the stone, so a surface cleaner cannot get to it. Stains need a poultice to draw them back out, and the branch can say which one suits.

It Does Not Undo Etching

Acid damage on marble or onyx is physical rather than residue. Light etches buff out with marble polishing powder; nothing sprayed on will reverse them.

Can I use bleach on my granite counter?
No. Bleach draws the sealer back out of the pores and leaves the stone open to staining, and on marble or onyx it etches the surface permanently. Use a disinfectant made for natural stone instead.

What is the difference between this and Granite & Stone Polish?

Is a stone counter hygienic for preparing raw meat?
Yes. A sealed counter cleaned with a stone-safe disinfectant is fine, though a cutting board is still worth using. Cutting straight on stone blunts knives and scores the sealer, which is what creates the hygiene problem to begin with.

Do I need to let it sit before wiping?
Yes. Contact time is what makes a disinfectant work, and wiping immediately is the commonest mistake. Follow the dwell time printed on the bottle, then wipe and buff dry.

Can I use it on marble and onyx?
Yes. It is pH-balanced for natural stone, which is exactly what a calcium carbonate surface needs. Keep acidic cleaners and bleach away from those materials altogether.

Can I use it on engineered quartz?
Reach for the quartz bottle instead. Quartz is resin-bound and resists staining, and a natural stone product can leave residue sitting on a surface with nowhere to go.

Does it replace sealing?
No. Cleaning and protection are separate jobs. A counter can be spotless and still drink oil. Run the water test now and again, and seal with Proseal once it fails.
