Why Choose Black Forest

Highly Durable Granite hardness at 6 to 7 on the Mohs scale, so daily kitchen use will not scratch or mark it.
Takes the Heat Formed under heat and pressure, so a pan straight off the burner will not scorch it.
No Two Slabs Alike The sweeping gray veining is geological, so your counter carries a pattern nobody else has.
Quarried, Not Manufactured Sawn from one block instead of blended in a factory, so every slab carries the geology of the ground it came from.

What Is Black Forest Granite?

A black ground cut through by broad pale veins.

Black Forest is a dark granite carrying wide gray and white veining that sweeps across the slab in long, soft-edged bands. At a distance the ground reads black; up close the veining supplies movement that no plain black stone can offer.

That leaves it in an unusual position on the list. Anyone who wants the authority of a dark counter but finds Absolute Black too severe tends to arrive here.

No two slabs are the same. Veining of this kind is geological rather than printed, so two pieces cut from one block share a character without ever matching. Picking your own material counts for more with this stone than with a uniform one.

At ₱3,600 per square meter it undercuts both Absolute Black and Black Galaxy, and it sits a little above Black Impala, the cheapest of the dark granites on the list here.

How Do You Clean Black Forest Granite?

Three habits, and the veining stays crisp.

1

Blot Spills and Drips Promptly

Oil, wine and citrus find their way into the pale veining much faster than into the dark ground around it. Catching a spill inside the first few minutes is what stops a patch forming along the veins.

2

Use Only Granite Cleaner

Vinegar, bleach and all-purpose sprays take the sealer off and leave the polish flat. Something formulated for natural stone shifts grease without touching either.

3

Always Keep the Surface Dry

Mineral rings from hard water show up clearly against a dark polished ground. Following the wipe with a dry cloth clears them before they accumulate.

Stone Depot stocks specially-formulated stone care products, so nobody has to guess in a supermarket aisle.

How Do You Care for Black Forest Granite?

Sealing aside, three rules keep a veined slab looking new.

1

Always Use a Cutting Board

Granite outranks a kitchen knife for hardness, so the counter wins every contest and the blade loses. Here the board is protecting your knives rather than the stone, which inverts the usual advice.

2

Mind the Edges

On any slab the polished edge is the most exposed part of it. Keep heavy pots from knocking against it, and make sure an overhang running past its cabinet is properly supported.

3

Reseal as Needed

The water test is what tells you the moment has come, rather than a date. Around fifteen minutes of work restores the protection right across a standard counter.

Does Black Forest Granite Need Sealing?

The dark ground is dense. The pale veining is not.

Yes. A veined granite behaves like two stones sharing one slab. Tightly grained, the black ground takes up very little, while the lighter quartz and feldspar bands are more open and will absorb oil if nothing is protecting them.

Test your own slab rather than working to a calendar. Drop a little water onto the veining somewhere inconspicuous, leave it about fifteen minutes and wipe it off. Stone that has darkened underneath is absorbing and wants a sealer; stone that has not is still protected.

Application itself is quick. Clean the counter, dry it thoroughly, put on an impregnating sealer, let it dwell, then buff the excess away before it hazes.

Is Black Forest Granite Good for Kitchen Countertops?

Granite hardness, with a pattern that hides the day.

Yes. Sitting at 6 to 7 on the Mohs scale, granite does not scratch under ordinary kitchen use, and it takes direct heat in a way engineered quartz cannot. A pan straight off the burner will not scorch it. A trivet is still worth using, because any stone can crack if the temperature change is sudden and extreme.

Practically as well as visually, the veining earns its keep. Crumbs, water marks and the general evidence of cooking register far less on a patterned surface than on a plain black one, which happens to be the most common complaint we hear about Absolute Black.

Two things want planning. Sealing is required, as set out above. And since the pattern has a direction, the layout drawing matters more than usual: settle before fabrication whether the veins should run along the counter or across it.

Outdoors it performs well. Granite is UV-stable, so unlike quartz it will not yellow on a lanai.

What Other Black Granites Do You Carry?

Four dark stones, four different amounts of pattern.

Black Forest has the most movement

Broad gray and white veining over a black ground, at ₱3,600 per sqm. Take it when the counter should stay dark and still hold some visual interest.

Black Galaxy is the sparkling one

Black Galaxy scatters bronze and gold flecks across black at ₱4,200 per sqm and needs no sealing. Take it for interest without veining.

Absolute Black is the plainest

Absolute Black is uniform, wants no sealer and is the most architectural of the four. At ₱4,200 it matches Black Galaxy exactly on the list here. Take it when the counter should disappear.

Black Impala is the budget option

Black Impala reads dark gray with fine silver flecking at ₱3,300 per sqm, the cheapest dark stone we stock. It does need sealing.

What Colors Go With Black Forest Granite?

A dark counter sets the anchor, so the room can go light.

Cabinetry in white or pale gray gives the strongest result, because the pale veining picks the cabinet color up and ties the two together. A plain black granite has no way of doing that.

Warm timber also works, oak and ash particularly. Gray in the veining stops the pairing turning heavy the way black against dark wood tends to.

Brushed nickel and matte black both suit the stone for hardware. Brass reads warmer and earns its place where the room already carries warm tones.

Keep the splashback quiet. With this much movement in the counter, a patterned tile behind it competes instead of complementing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Black Forest granite or marble?

Granite. Sweeping pale veining leads people to guess marble, but this is an igneous rock with granite hardness and granite heat tolerance. The practical consequence is that lemon juice and vinegar will not etch it the way they etch a marble.

How much does Black Forest granite cost in Sta. Rosa, Laguna?

The slab runs ₱3,600 per square meter, with fabrication and installation at ₱500 per linear meter each and cut-outs at ₱850 per set.

Does Black Forest granite stain?

Yes, if it is left unsealed. Oil goes into the pale veining, and a mark on light-colored veining is not easy to overlook. Sealed and wiped promptly, the stone resists staining well, and the dark ground is dense enough that it rarely takes up anything at all.

Can you put a hot pan on Black Forest granite?

Yes. The rock formed under heat and pressure, so a pan straight off the burner leaves neither scorch nor discoloration. A trivet is still worth using, because any stone can crack if the temperature change is sudden and extreme, and an edge or a cut-out is where that stress lands first.

Do the slabs match each other?

No, and that is worth planning around. Veining shifts between slabs cut from different blocks, so a kitchen needing more than one should have them selected together. Ask to see the real material rather than a sample tile before committing.

How does Black Forest compare to Black Galaxy?

Pattern against upkeep. Black Galaxy is uniform black with bronze flecks, needs no sealing and costs ₱4,200 per sqm. Black Forest carries broad veining, does need sealing and costs ₱3,600. Galaxy for a consistent surface and less work, Forest for movement and a lower rate.

Can Black Forest granite be used outdoors?

Yes. Granite is UV-stable and will neither fade nor yellow in sunlight, which suits lanai counters, outdoor kitchens and poolside surfaces. Reseal a little more often out there, since sun and rain work the surface harder than an indoor kitchen ever does.

Where can you buy Black Forest granite in Sta. Rosa, Laguna?

Stone Depot. Black Forest is stocked at our Sta. Rosa, Laguna slabyard, and because every branch keeps its own inventory, what is on the floor varies from one location to another.

A veined slab is worth seeing at full size, since a sample tile tells you nothing about how the veining runs across three meters. The branch opens Monday to Saturday, 8 AM to 5 PM, we deliver across Southern Luzon, and you can message us on Facebook or email email@stonedepot.com.
